Altair Records

 

Altair Records started life in 1982 as the brainchild of Producer/Mixer Rick Gianatos who had been very busy in the 70s and 80s Disco era Producing and mixing the likes of Shalimar, Gene Chandler, Edwin Starr,Shirley Bassey and many more. Early releases on Altair included the Hot 100 hit by former Supreme Scherrie Payne, the disco version of 10 CC's "I'm Not in Love" and the first ever Disco cover of the outstanding hit from The Dreamgirls' stage play "One Night Only".
In the 1990's he teamed up with UK based HiNRG Producer/Artist Paul Tams and began to release Albums and tracks on Classic Dancefloor and Soul artists including Former Supremes, Freda Payne, Scherrie Payne, Pattie Brooks, Linda Clifford and Jessica Williams amongst others.
Since then the label has continued to release Albums, Singles and Compilations pulling from the back catalogue and new recordings undertaken in LA by Rick.
